Family contracted typhoid - only three of the family survived it as John Francis had already married and moved on.

JOHN FRANCIS 1835: He married in 1861 and returned to Oakford to farm at Higher Westcott. Moved to Pinkworthy Farm between 1878 and 1883. Retired from farming in the early 1900s - handed over the farm to his son by the same name, lived in the cottage "Hockford, near Rows Farm Bampton and moved into Bampton itself, 7 Frog St, later. A tall upright man who remained so until his death at the ripe old age of 87 yrs.

JOANE VENNER 1639: Possibly married William Hepkyn 2 Jul 1670.

JOHN VENNER 1545: Buried at Rose Ash on 15th September 1618. His will is dated 3rd Sept. but was not proved until 27th May 1633 by his son John. The will reads: " To John, Roger, Edward, Julian and Agnes Venner, sons and daughters of Roger Venner, clark, all under 21 $8 (pounds) apiece; to Anne Venner, daughter of William Venner, deceased, and to William, Wilmot, Grace and Anne Venner, sons and daughters of my son John Venner, and to William, Edmund, Anne, and Dorothy Venner, sons and daughters of my son Robert Venner deceased ... all under 21, $8(pounds) apiece; to my son Roger Venner all my right: to my wife Grace ... Residue to George Ridgway and John Venner, son of Robert Venner, my executors."

ROGER VENNER 1570: Rector of Stoodleigh in 1607. In 1604, 1607, 1610 and 1635, his signature is discernible at the foot of each year's parish entries. Sometimes he calls himself "Clark" or "Clearke" and at other times "Rector". He was obviously an educated man and familiar with Latin.

Wife JULIANA COOKER: No sign of burial record in Rose Ash.

ROGER VENNER 1604: Will dated 4th Aug 1693.

ROGER VENNER 1644: Roger left all his estate to his father - Will witnessed by his brother John and sister Jane.

Susanna Venner married John Bowden (see the Bowden family) but both seem to have died before 1851, so no other details are known. Stoodleigh shares a long western boundary with Templeton and the church is not far from the parish boundary, which means that people christened there could actually be born in Templeton. Whatever the case, their son William Bowden lived for some time in Templeton, dying there in 1859.

Jane, born in Templeton about 1844 was the wife of William Venner born about 1834 in Oakford. She could be Jane Wood, daughter of Richard Wood and Barbara who matches age and place of birth. William and Jane were living at 10 Cardiff St Llangeinor, Glamorgan, Wales in 1881. William was a coal miner and Jane a dressmaker and they had 7 children, Mary 16, born in 'Devon', Richard 14, born Rose Ash, ('Rosash'), Annie 10 and Matilda J., 8, both born in Witheridge, William G. 6, born in St Nicholas, Glamorgan, Elizabeth E. 4, born in Gloucester and Arthur Thomas, 1, born in Portbury.
