Reuben KINZETT b. 1851 Stoke, Nelson d. 8 Jan 1893 m. 1882 Charlotte Margaret PAHL d. 1949 aged 86 yrs
It would seem that Reuben is the family member around whom you could make an intriguing (if not raunchy) tale.
First up there is that fact that he was involved with two sisters at the same time - who in return bore him children 6 weeks apart.
First there was Mary Jane Fawcett (b. 1856) who had George Fawcett at the end of 1872 followed by Elizabeth Ann Fawcett (b. 1852 in Canterbury and d. 31 Aug 1941 Korere) who had Sarah Fawcett Hannen b. 28 Jan 1873. Sarah went on to mary Edward Lionel Newport (b. 8 Feb 1875 Nelson and d. 6 Sep 1943 Timaru).
Surprizingly he survived to marry Charlotte Pahl on 15 April 1882. (Marriage registered at Wakefield).
Both NZPO Directory and Wises Nelson Directory state he was a farmer in Tadmor.
His death notice read: On 10th Jan 1893 Reueben Kinzett was buried at Motueka Valley Cem. However, the death register states he was buried at Wakefield (? St Johns ? - I haven't checked up on this).
Cause of death: Encepholitis for 6 days and convulsions. Surviving offspring - 1 male 4 yrs, 2 females aged 9 and 1.
Probate: Reuben Kinzett, farmer Tadmor - filed 19 Jan 1893 - Nelson Court.

After Reuben died Charlotte apparently ran off to Invercargill with a married man named William Thomas. William assumed the name Rhoy Kinzett and the subsequent three children were surnamed Kinzett. He and Charlotte are buried side by side at the East Invercargill Cemetery. William was previously married to Elizabeth Buckman from Blenheim who is said to have "died of a broken heart" in about 1906. They were married about 1871 and had a good swag of kids.
Now, the question is - did William change his name by deed poll? Otherwise he lived a good deal of his life - right up to his burial under a false name. Presumeably, Ethel Amelia would have known things were not as they seemed as she would have been almost 10 when her father died and this other man came into their lives.
